In my post-doctoral research, I taught children problem solving steps and then tested their problem solving skills. The idea was to see if children had to go through Piaget's stages or if they could be taught to skip some of the steps. Here are the 7 steps that the children were taught:
- Where am I now?
- Where do I want to be?
- How do I get from here to there?
- Will this work?
- Try it.
- Did it work? Why or why not?
- Try again.
