The first Noel was to shepherd boys,
Working folk like me.
All alone in the still of night,
When unexpectedly,
The angels brought the good news
And choirs sang above
The shepherds knelt in wonder
Unprepared for God's great love
Verse 2
The first Noel that I ever heard
I was lost in sin
God came down in love to me
A new life to begin
I didn't hear the angels
And there were no choirs to see
But Jesus spoke to my heart
Filled me with tranquility.
Verse 3
"Oh praise to God" all the angels say
"Christ is born for you."
God with us, O Emanuel
His promises are true
For just as lowly shepherds
Heard on that night so clear
Don't let your heart be troubled
For your first Noel is near.
